Wednesday 21 July 2010

Please pray for us over the next few weeks. We will be going out to various conferences to spread the message of supporting indigenous Asian missionaries:

24 Jul – 6 Aug : Keswick Convention 2010
24 Jul – 7 Aug : New Wine 2010 Shepton Mallet
31 Jul – 6 Aug : New Wine 2010 Newark (inc Café)

Most of the team will be at New Wine in Newark; this will be a new type of conference for us because a) we will be directly asking people to sponsor missionaries, and b) we are running a Café to help raise awareness of Gospel for Asia's ministry in Asia.

I myself am going to Shepton Mallet, which, according to Google Maps, is around a 5 hour drive from York:

...I'll be camping, and, because the two other volunteers live nearby, I will probably be in a tent by myself:

...and we will be setting up a stall in the exhibition hall:

...where we will be offering free copies of "Revolution In World Missions"; our most effective tool in helping people to understand the concept of supporting indigenous missionaries in Asia:

Please also pray for the office workload during this time as almost all of us will be away for a lot of it.

My own work will build up and there will be a mountain waiting for me when I get back, a mountain which I am counting on the Spirit of God to help me move!

We have recently been blessed with a few volunteers helping out in the office. There has been Jani, helping out with name entry and cleaning:

...Tim's sister Abby has helped out with name entry, filing, and magazine stuffing:

...and Helen's friend Natalie has helped with name entry, filing, labelling, and sending out missionary updates:

Jani also asked me to teach him how to eat using chopsticks, and I was happy to oblige:

Special thanks go to Tim for going to great lengths to run some cables that I needed through the roof for me:

Calvary Chapel York was recently blessed by a visit from Bruce and Teresa, old friends of Pastor Dave, from Siegen, Germany. They are starting a school for worship leaders in Siegen and came over to York for some holiday time. They led worship last Sunday, and Bruce gave us an encouraging message on Psalm 27.

I was also personally blessed by a recent visit from Steve Hammond:

Steve and I met several years ago, at what was then Calvary Chapel Norwich, and he was also Tim's roommate at Bible College. He was in York and I offered to put him up for the night at my house. I put him to work straight away making the fried rice I had planned for dinner:

Luckily for him James has now finished the present bathroom project!

I am also looking forward to going to the Servants Church Family Camp at the end of August this year. It looks like my Summer is going to be full of camping!

Prayer Requests

Thanks again for reading. Please remember to pray for us during this conference season:

  • Please pray that all the prep work gets done, and nothing important is forgotten, left out, or missing.
  • Please pray for safe travel for everyone that is going.
  • Please pray for the right words for us to speak to all the Christians we meet. Pray that they would be the Lord's words. Pray that we would remember that we are to be servants to God's people, and help them reach the lost in Asia with their lives.
  • Please pray for sufficient sleep and rest for us!
  • Please pray that this time would ultimately result in missionaries being sponsored, and souls getting saved in Asia.
Thank you again for taking the time, I appreciate it.
