Saturday 16 July 2011

Hello Prayer Team,

Greetings again from semi-sunny York! Thank you for your prayers for the Big Church Day Out conference. It was a really encouraging time, we spoke to many people about the work the Lord is doing through Asian missionaries, gave out over 400 free copies of "Revolution In World Missions", and 3 people sponsored missionaries that very weekend. The journey down was eventless, the two volunteers, Mike and Arul, were a blessing, and all the equipment was present and effective. Thank you for covering me with protection.

I would like to call upon your prayers again! On Saturday I am going to Shepton Mallet for the New Wine conference, just like last year, and would appreciate more prayer cover.

New Wine Shepton Mallet

So this weekend I will be loading up a van with about one and a half thousand copies of “Revolution In World Missions”:

…going on a 5 hour drive:

…and then meeting up with Colin and Jean, with whom I will be staying.

They were kind enough to let me stay with them last year too, which saved me camping all by myself for two weeks! This year I will be taking them up on their hospitality again, and they will also be helping to man the stall, along with another volunteer named Lesley-Anne. Please pray for energy for us for standing at our bookstand each day 10:00am-6:00pm and 8:30pm-10:30pm sharing about what God is doing in Asia. Please also pray that people would understand the Lord’s heart for the unreached world, and that people would sponsor missionaries.

In The Office

I have been training the newest addition to our staff, Catherine, as she will be taking over my role in Partner Relations, so that I can move into a more active role with our volunteers. She has learned quickly so far and I am confident that she will do the job well.

We have been blessed by regular and reliable help from several local volunteers lately:

…Colin and Paul come in every week, and Colin also feels that the Lord is leading him to join us a part-time staff member.

Also, someone called Rowina very recently got to know Gospel for Asia and felt compelled to create a video to help Christians come to grips with how unreached Asia really is. It imagines the world as a village of 100 people, and illustrates the statistics in a very graspable way. She came to visit us and finalise the video last month:

…please pray for the video to be fruitful!

    Outside The Office

Angie Lucich and I are officially a couple :-). We both feel as though the Lord has presented us to one another while we’ve served here at Gospel for Asia, and opened a door for us to become more than friends. We are pursuing the relationship and I have taken Angie out to do lots of classy things such as eat macaroni cheese in the street:

In all seriousness it’s an extremely exciting time for me! I know that some of you have been praying along these lines for a long time for me, and I am in your debt, and yet I also ask you to continue to remember us in your prayers as we learn to relate to one another in this new way.

Also, last weekend my Dad and three of my siblings came to York to visit. From left to right this is Jonathan, Joanne, Joseph, and Joshua:

They were able to meet Angie, and we took them walking around various sites in the city:

    …we played games:

…they got to meet Brian, Mindy and Elijah:

…and they were also able to get to Caroline’s birthday celebration and see the Gospel for Asia office.

It was a great couple of days; I was so happy that they were able to see where I live and serve, meet my dear friends, and get to know the girl who is stealing my heart :-). I was so blessed with being able to share my life here in York with them! The Lord is so good!

Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your time.

Please continue to pray, please continue to believe. Please continue to serve Him who is worthy, to be enraptured by His love, and to be thrilled that God has reserved a place in Heaven for those who trust in Christ alone.

In this together, together in Him,

    JP
