If anyone has not yet seen the film “Slumdog Millionaire” I fully recommend it. It is a good illustration of the living level of Dalit children and their vulnerability to those that would take advantage of them. It is not so much entertaining as it is eye-opening – I am glad I watched it once but I doubt I would watch it again. It has given us a new sense of urgency to get as many children sponsored and into our Bridge of Hope centres as possible.

I have pretty much settled into Gospel For Asia home-office life, complete with it’s own battles. The other day I had a frustrating episode with an online data link with the bank which all of a sudden would not function. There is a helpline number but of course the document with it was nowhere to be found and this particular system is so old that no-one really knows it, let alone understands it. It was only after a desperate prayer that the solution presented itself. I know it’s a small thing but I got really angry with my computer and with myself and well, with pretty much everything! I get frustrated and impatient remarkably easily and little things like this really get me into the flesh – please pray for me!

More positive highlights include Helen Walker’s birthday:

…a delivery of… something or other:

…having more light in the office (we were below legal levels!):

…and having Martha and Daniel in the office some more:

We’ve had a new birth here at Calvary Chapel York:

…well as a beautiful wedding:

…and I met Abigail, about to depart to work in an orphanage in Zambia as a missionary:

James my landlord has been doing much work on the house. Some local youngsters helped us in the garden:

…we have a new back fence:

…and James’ parents also came to be labourers for a week:

He’s thinking of repainting, he does not like the current colour scheme, what do you think?

The cooker is now in, although it won’t be functional until the gasman comes to safely connect it:

I also learned NOT to cook rice in a slow cooker:

On a random tangent, there is a great bakery chain in York called Thomas the Baker:

…they do a “yesterday bake” deal whereby they cheaply sell produce that was baked the day before. You can get a bag of flapjack pieces for 45p and you get loads. I am going to get sooooo fat!

I’ll leave off with a question, does anyone know what this is?
